Man killed in St. Petersburg, FL accident
A St. Petersburg, FL man was killed and two other people injured in a three vehicle crash in early December.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, at approximately 1:40 p.m. on December 9, 2012, Charles Berry, 81, of St. Petersburg, FL, was driving his 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis heading east on 62nd Avenue in Pinellas Park, FL. His wife, Carol Berry, 77, also of St. Petersburg, FL was also in the car with her husband.
Pinellas Park Police Department reports indicate that as Berry was driving through the 49th Street intersection in Pinellas Park, FL, a 1973 Rolls Royce being driven by Tony Garon, 58, of St. Petersburg, FL, ran a red light and collided with Berry’s vehicle.
A third vehicle was also involved in the accident at the intersection of 62nd Avenue and 49th Street in Pinellas Park, FL. Reports state that a 2007 Toyota Corolla being driven by Carol Cherry, 67, also of St. Petersburg, FL, was headed westbound on 62nd Avenue in Pinellas Park, FL, when it collided with the Rolls Royce being driven by Garon.
Charles Berry, the driver of the Grand Marquis was transported for the scene of the accident to Northside Hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. Carol Berry and Carol Cherry were also transported to Northside Hospital where they were treated for their injuries and later released. Garon, the driver of the Rolls Royce, was treated for minor injuries at the scene of the accident.
Responding officers believe that alcohol may have been a factor in this accident.

They go on to report that a total of 13,846 fatalities were reported in 2008 where at least one driver recorded a blood alcohol level of at least 0.01%.
